The Teaching of the Rapture

Hands Clasped in PrayerWhen you examine the teaching of the rapture it makes the following claim:

Jesus will return to earth before the great tribulation in the book of Revelation and will gather together all the Christians who believe in the rapture and take them all to Heaven so they will not have to suffer through the end times.

This is a nice thought, to think that there is a way to get out of the responsibility of being a Christian. The truth is that being a good Christian REQUIRES sacrifice. Throughout the entire Bible God has required humans to suffer in the name of God.

In the late 1400′s and early 1500′s the Roman Catholic Church was selling “Indulgences”. For a fee the Roman Catholic Church would guarantee your admittance into Heaven. In affect the Roman Catholic Church was saying that you could do anything you want, and by paying a fee you could still get into heaven.

The notion that this practice encourages moral laxity is denied by the church. Martin Luther protested against the sale and abuse of indulgences and came to reject the teaching altogether. Since the Council of Trent (1562) the buying and selling of indulgences has been unlawful.

Modern day Protestants can trace their roots to Martin Luther. Luther felt compelled to protest the Roman Catholic Church. The abuse of indulgences had been condemned by many Catholic theologians, but it had great financial success, and ecclesiastical authorities did not want to give up this source of income.

Martin Luther’s opponents found his ideas heretical. Luther refused to recant, and in 1519 in a public disputation with Eck in Leipzig he was forced to declare his stand as one at variance with some of the doctrines of the church.

Luther attacked the claim of the papacy of authority over secular rulers and denied that the pope was the final interpreter of Scripture. He assailed the corruption of the church and attacked usury and commercialism. In 1521 the Roman Catholic Church formally excommunicated Martin Luther.

Some Protestant Churches are perpetrating the same kind abuse of indulgences and Christians of good conscience are condemning it out loud in front of everyone. In essence the rapture says that you are not required to go through the tribulation because a Reverend, Minister, Pastor or Priest has told you that you do not have to.

It is no coincidence that people who condemn the rapture are being called a heretic and are being for all intents and proposes excommunicated from some of the Protestant Churches. Anyone who publicly dissents from the officially accepted dogma of some of the Protestant Churches will almost certainly be condemned by those Churches.

People who stand up and speak out against the rapture will almost certainly be condemned by people who do not want to go through the end times. You can give all the money in the world to the Church, you can sit in Church and sing songs, you can listen to Christian radio and you can say that you are a good Christian but in order to get into heaven you have to prove to God that you are a good Christian through sacrifice.

Reverends, Ministers, Pastors and Priests who teach the rapture are doing so, not because they believe it, but for the sole purpose of making money. They are playing on your fears and saying that if you follow their teachings you will not have to go through the end times. Good Christians should have no fear of the end times. The tribulation in the bible is a good thing.

I have been reading some of the opinions of people on the Internet. Some people feel that this discussion about the rapture is irrelevant. One quote I read said “the rapture is a secondary teaching that Christians need not divide over”. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Teaching that Jesus will return to earth before the tribulation is in direct opposition to what is taught in the books of Daniel and Revelation. It is clearly written in the scripture that the Antichrist will come first and Jesus will come at the end of the tribulation. The rapture teaches that Jesus comes before the tribulation. This teaching will lead people directly into the hands of the Antichrist.

There are no loopholes in the scriptures. No evasion of responsibilities. No way to circumvent your requirements of faith. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that being a Christian will be easy, in fact it says the opposite. You can not pay someone to get you out of your requirements of faith.

No matter how much you want to fly away into the clouds with Jesus, you can not be a good Christian without a REQUIREMENT of sacrifice. Christians will be required to go through the tribulation talked about in the book of Revelation to prove their faith to Jesus and no amount of wishing it not to be true will help you.

Knowledge is the enemy of those who mean to control you. Many Reverends, Ministers, Pastors and Priests do not want you to think for yourself. Study the Bible for yourself. Read it over and over again until to understand it completely. READ YOUR BIBLE!
